French Champion trainer Guillaume Macaire has suggested that his talented Beau Gosse could be heading across the Channel this winter.
The son of Falco bids to win the Grade Two Prix Georges De Talmouet Roy at Auteuil on Sunday, a race won in the past by subsequent Gold Cup winner Long Run, and will be ridden by French champion jockey-elect Bertrand Lestrade.
Beau Gosse will face four rivals in the €175,000 (£156,000), the best of which looks to be stable-mate Tunis who he beat at Auteuil last time out.
The three-year-old, owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, is held in high regard by Macaire, and the Royan-based handler is looking forward to the winter ahead.
“I was impressed with him at Auteuil three weeks ago and if he is successful on Sunday I will take a serious look at the British calendar," the trainer told Racinguk.com.
"He is a nice and relaxed horse with a great profile. At the moment I think possibly Cheltenham mid-November or Chepstow’s Grade One Finale Hurdle, a race which I have won in the past, could suit him. Although there is more money to be won here in France, he is potentially a Triumph Hurdle prospect."

Sky Bet are 25-1 about Beau Gosse for the Triumph Hurdle.
Macaire captured British hearts in 2002 with the superb, yet ill- fated, Jair Du Cochet who beat Best Mate in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon but sustained a fatal gallops injury a week before a scheduled run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Macaire, who used to have around 20 runners in Britain each season, has been an infrequent visitor to Britain of late but has reason to think this may change.
"I have not brought many horses to Britain recently because it is not wise for business to compete with horses I have sold in the past, although I have a few horses that could make the trip this year."
