Finishing Speed Percentage form: 11
Lyneham created a good impression in both his races over a mile last year, being touched off on his debut at Doncaster before going one better at Newmarket.
The form of those races is strong, and the times were taking, each being more than two seconds quicker than the RaceiQ Par. The long-striding Derby entry also seems sure to improve moving up in trip.
3.30 Betfred Jockey Club Stakes
✅ LION’S PRIDE
Highest ever speed: 41.75mph. Stable form: 16 wins at 31% strike rate in April.
Final 3f of Tattersalls Stakes: Fast, Fast & Very Fast.
Lion’s Pride was a beaten favourite in the John Porter this month but at least he’s had a recent run, and his seven-length win in the Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket last year lingers in the memory.
His rivals could not live with his penultimate furlong of 11.52 seconds that day, when he hit more than 39mph and had easily the best Finishing Speed Percentage.
Pertemps Network King Charles II Stakes
✅ SABER STRIKE
0-20mph: 2.24sec. Top Speed: 41.93mph.
Time Index: 7.9 (1.7sec quicker than RaceiQ Par).
Saber Strike dazzled when a three-length winner on his debut at Redcar in November. He was fastest to 20mph, clocked the Top Speed, recorded the fastest furlong and had the best Finishing Speed Percentage – all seemingly when in second gear.
The form also has some substance as the runner-up, Cape Ashizuri, had previously run in the Champagne Stakes, and has an official rating of 92 after a recent win at Pontefract.
