Friday tips: Dave Nevison has three fancies at Market Rasen

The Resdev Tyke looks as though he is running below his grade after what he did on his latest start and looks set to follow up.

This well-related gelding had shown modest in a couple of hurdle runs before last time, but was strongly supported into favourite at Wetherby and won like a good thing.

His pedigree suggests he should now improve further and this race looks weaker race than last time, so I don’t expect him to have too much trouble.

Born In The West’s best recent efforts have all come over three miles and he really showed the benefit of being stepped back up in trip last time out.

He was very well backed in an amateur’s handicap where he won well, and he has been put up 6lb for that success, which might be lenient.

He has been rated this highly in the past, but possibly wasn’t ready for it, but back in form and with Tom Midgely taking off a valuable 3lb, he looks well up to winning again. The prospect of this race being run at a decent pace will suit Born In The West particularly well.

Doyen Du Bar looks very interesting in a veterans chase where, unlike most contenders who have been plodding around for a while hoping the handicapper will drop them down in the weights, this ten-year-old is trying a new trip and looks like he could actually improve for it.

Nicky Richards has only had him for two starts and has kept him to two miles. However, his dam won a point-to-point and he is closely related to a real stayer, so it seems very logical to step him up in trip. Given the way he stayed on to overtake horses up the punishing home straight at Wetherby it looks an obvious move.
