Surprisingly, his mark remains unchanged after going down by a nose last time and he could have easily been raised for that. Kettle Hill can gain compensation here with this stiffer finish set to suit better than both York and Ripon the last twice.
Although Kettle Hill will definitely be suited by further pretty soon, he can score over this mile as long as it’s not a crawl before moving up in trip.
The ground is no issue, and it pretty much goes without saying that both William Haggas and Tom Marquand are in excellent form.
Doncaster’s traditional version of the Ebor is very much the poor relation in terms of prize money these days. That’s unfortunate, but it is still a terrific race.
Rhythmic Intent doesn’t get much respite from the handicapper but, in truth, I don’t think that is what he needs. However, a truly-run race over this trip on a galloping track such as this is perfect.
Hollie Doyle had a sighter on him at York last time which went pretty well, with Rhythmic Intent staying on nicely over 12 furlongs. If he runs as well here he should go very close.
Chairmanoftheboard just needs to catch a break.
I was with this one at Thirsk last time on the back of promising runs on his previous two starts and it was very painful to watch as he started to find trouble at half way and just couldn’t get himself into a clear lane. He finished fifth going on very well at the finish under hands and heels riding. Dropped another 1lb for that effort, he is now below his latest winning mark.
It is more difficult to get into trouble in the wide open spaces of Doncaster and I am anticipating another very good run. There looks to be plenty of pace on here which should suit him well, while the extra half-furlong could also suit very nicely.
