Our resident tipster reveals his three best bets from Chelmsford, Nottingham and Newbury:
Racing TV encourages responsible gambling - to find out more . 1.30 Newbury: Obsidian Knight
Has only ever won on the all-weather but a look through his form shows he has run well on turf, including off a much higher mark and at this track.
Terry Kent’s gelding has already won twice this year and is now rated higher on an artificial surface so is taking his chance off a lower winning turf mark.
He ran better than his fifth place suggested at Yarmouth last time and would definitely have been a contender had he got room inside the final furlong.
3.25 Nottingham: Rockstar Icon
The Cole yard is in impressive form and that persuades me to think it might be worth taking a chance on Rockstar Icon to go well on his seasonal reappearance.
Not too many in this field are currently in the best of form so it might not be the strongest race for the grade.
Rockstar Icon ran his best race last season when a close fifth at Newmarket on his first run and he is off a 7lb lower mark here.
He ran better than the 11-length beating suggests on his final start and might be weighted to land another race or two this season.
9.00 Chelmsford: Dutch Finale
Takes on older horses but could be most progressive against largely exposed types under a 6lb penalty.
Won very easily by two and a half lengths over six furlongs last time out but looked as though he would be at least as well suited by this step up distance.
George Boughey’s gelding went from a £35k foal to a £135k yearling so is definitely an impressive looking individual and might well be running out of his grade here.
It will be a surprise if he can’t win again.
