Five horses to follow on Tuesday

Best odds: 12-1.

Liberty Lane looks well worth an each-way bet at 12-1 given he goes well here, is well drawn and the cheekpieces seemed to work well last time.

His peak form is good enough to win this - he was an emphatic winner of the Cambridgeshire off top weight from just 4lb lower in 2024 - and his stable are red hot, operating at a strike rate of over 30 per cent for the second half of this month.

He is a course and distance winner who should be able to get a prominent position and stay out of trouble, and I expect him to outrun his odds.

Tipster: Andy Stephens.

Best odds: 2-1.

Al Hudaiba has not looked the easiest of rides but would be unbeaten in four starts but for jinking and unseating his rider in the closing stages at Yarmouth in late May.

He's since made amends with successive wins on the July Course at Newmarket, doing well to catch Abraham Lincoln last time after that horse got first run on him in the Superlative Stakes. Only fourth a furlong out, he produced a final split of 12.54sec to get up close home.

Al Hudaiba is responsible for three of the top four speeds in this contest plus has had the highest Finishing Speed Percentage in each race he has completed.

Haffner is challenging him for favouritism but was allowed to boss slow fractions when making all at Newmarket last time. He had been put in his place by Abraham Lincoln before that.

Tipster: RaceiQ nap of the day (Andy Stephens).

Best odds: 10-3 (advised at 9-2).

Lake Forest is hot favourite for the Lennox Stakes after his staying-on fifth in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, having previously hacked up at Haydock.

However, the RaceiQ data tells us that the hold-up horses, such as him, will at a big disadvantage here, with the Actual versus Expected for horses ridden this way being just 0.38.

He's also routinely slow to get to 20mph with his "form figures" from the gates reading 6877705988550.

Lake Forest could not get to grips with Witness Stand in this race last year, having been 1.28sec (in the region of eight lengths) behind him after two furlongs. It could be the same story.

Witness Stand will again be standing in his way, as will another course specialist in Qirat, who is 3-3 at Goodwood and was a shock 150-1 winner of the Sussex Stakes 12 months ago. At about 9-2, he rates a solid alternative to the market leader after his dominant all-the-way win at York last time.

Tipster: Nic Doggett.

Best odds: 12-1 (advised at 16-1).

The one horse I keep returning to is Amiloc, and, with the bare eight runners, he looks a feasible each-way option at 16s. The Ralph Beckett-trained gelding is a fine spare ride for Hector Crouch (who actually rode him to victory here last May), and he made a lasting impression when storming up the hill for two wins at the course last season. 

This year hasn't gone to plan, but he shapes as if this longer trip could bring about more improvement, and the likely solid tempo throughout should help him settle better than he has so far this term.

A market move post-declarations, I'm hopeful he may go out to at least 5-1 on the day but, regardless, he is hard to get away from.

Ado McGuinness is a diamond in this race, the four-year-old has done hardly any racing; he only has had two runs for Ado and the performance he produced at the Curragh in a similar race (four of these in behind) suggested he will remain well ahead of the handicapper despite a 9lb rise.
