Fergal O'Brien has Aintree ambitions for progressive Cap Soleil

Fergal O'Brien has earmarked the Grade Two mares' bumper at Aintree in the spring as a potential long-term target for Cap Soleil.The four-year-old made a winning debut at Newbury last month and made it two from two when she survived a stewards' inquiry in a Listed race at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. O'Brien said: "Cap Soleil is fine and I was delighted with that result.She really dug in for Paddy (Brennan) and has got a great attitude.We will probably look at a Listed bumper at Sandown first, which Oscar Rose might run in as well, then possibly look at Aintree." The Naunton handler stressed that ground conditions will dictate the route unbeaten hurdler Colin's Sister takes for the rest of the campaign. The six-year-old took her form to new heights last month when she completed a hat-trick in a Listed race at Haydock. She is now as short as 12-1 for the Trull House Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival,O'Brien said: "There's a Listed novice hurdle at Ascot coming up and we will just see where we go after that."She has done nothing wrong and will have all the entries, but she is very much ground dependent."We are very happy with her and were always looking forward to jumping hurdles with her, but the way she has been winning has surpassed what we thought."The plan was to end up in the Listed race at Haydock last time and she won that very impressively."
