We head to
Fairyhouse on Sunday afternoon for an interesting card of winter jumps at the northern track.
The first six races make up the Tote Placepot pool and our Placepot Pointers will give you a leg up with some useful tips and insights!
How’s the going?
The ground in Fairyhouse is described as Heavy all over, so we’re looking at testing conditions on Sunday afternoon at the Co. Meath venue. Course form will be useful long with the proven ability to stay the trip well in deep conditions.
The Big Trend
Paul Townend has a 40% strike rate at Fairyhouse this season with 4 winners from his 10 rides at the track. Remarkably, the Willie Mullins stable jockey is operating a 62% hit rate in the past fortnight, firing in 13 winners from 21 rides during that time. Townend has a trio of mounts at Fairyhouse on Sunday and they require very close attention.
Leg 1 - 12:40 - Runrized
Leg 2 - 1:10 - Hook Up
Leg 5 - 2:50 - Salsaretta
Placepot Banker
FLANKING MANEUVER (Leg 1, 12.40pm) can get the pool off to the perfect start by closing very close in the opening maiden hurdle over 2m4f. Noel Meade’s 6yo son of Beat Hollow has a nice pedigree and has been putting it to good use in recent outings. He recorded a strong form figure when second to Percy Warner at Navan last time out, a performance which gives him every chance of developing into a smart performer. A repeat or improvement of that effort will see the horse prove very difficult to deny this afternoon.
Outsiders to Consider
THE BROGHIE MAN (Leg 3, 1.45pm) finds it hard to find the net but he often runs very well in defeat and there could be room for another placed effort here at a nice price. He right handed track should suit and a good 5lb claiming amateur rider has been booked.
TRICKEY TRIX (Leg 4, 2.15pm) went off the boil quickly after winning well at Thurles back in October, but the 9yo took a step back in the right direction over fences last time out. Her mark of 107 remains workable for this return to hurdles and conditions should be to suit if she’s in the mood.
Torpedo Leg
Leg 5 at 2.50pm could be simply a match between Shattered Love and Salsaretta as it looks like it might be on paper. However, you also have the very talented Cabaret Queen and Moyhenna is the field which makes it a little bit of a torpedo leg with only two places up for grabs. With that in mind we’ll take two against the field. CABARET QUEEN’s proven stamina will be a major asset to her chances, while SALSARETTA still has an air of real brilliance about her at times and we think this Mullins trained pair are the ones to side with to be sure of getting through the leg.
