Excellent Result earned a potential trip to the Randox Health
Grand National Festival at Aintree when living up to his name in the Matchbook Betting Podcast Novices' Hurdle at Kempton.
Although off since finishing down the field in a handicap at Cheltenham in November, the Richard Spencer-trained seven-year-old showed the benefit of a break in the two-mile contest when repelling the late raid of favourite Apasionado by a length and a quarter.
Spencer said of the 8-1 winner: "Adrian Heskin said that he warmed to it. The first couple were a bit sticky, but the further he went the better he jumped. Adrian said he was just idling in front."
He added:"We've got Aintree on our mind, but we will just see how he comes out of this race.
"We fancied him at Cheltenham when he ran in a handicap last time, but he just made a mistake at the first and lost all confidence.
"He is a horse we hope to aim at the major Flat handicaps like the Ebor throughout the year."
