The former Aidan O'Brien inmate made great strides earlier this year when winning the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock and a big pot at Market Rasen.
Williams switched his charge back to the Flat for last month's Cesarewitch at Newmarket and while that did not pan out too well, the trainer is hoping for a more positive showing at Gosforth Park.
"He wouldn't let himself down on that ground at Newmarket. We thought we better give him a freshen-up as he has been on the go so long," said Williams.
"He is a different horse when he gets a bit of sun on his back. He had a little bit of a break for 10 days and the little horse did his first bit (of work) back this week.
"It is only just over three weeks until the Fighting Fifth and it looks like he will come spot-on for it. If we are not good enough, we are not good enough.
"He has had a great season and it doesn't matter if he doesn't win, as long as he runs with credit. What have we got to lose?
"We will go there and see if we are a Grade One horse over hurdles."
