Dave Nevison's top tips for the third day of the Welcome To Yorkshire Ebor Festival

I feel the debate about whether Battaash’s temperament will hold up in the preliminaries at York is now over and I am very much looking forward to him blasting up the Knavesmire in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Thursday.
However, his odds are cramped and the bets have to be found elsewhere, starting with:
1.45 York: Zabeel Champion

Finished: 6thSP: 11/8
This is probably the least competitive handicap of the meeting and this improving three-year-old rightly looks set to go off clear favourite.
He ran a cracker last time behind Junkanoo at Goodwood and, while he may have reached his limit at ten furlongs, improvement looks assured over today’s extra two furlongs.
His dam was a lightly raced daughter of Galileo who did not get off the mark until running over this trip, so stamina is pretty much guaranteed. A 3lb rise for less than a length beating in a Festival handicap is definitely reasonable and the Ryan Moore booking is eye-catching.

4.15 York: Angel Power

I am sticking with the Goodwood form of her last start, even though the filly that beat her, Tomorrow’s Dream, maybe did not progress as widely anticipated last time at Haydock.
Angel Power showed she acted with a bit of cut in the ground on her debut and has progressed with each start this season. In a tricky dead eight-runner field with lots of improvers, she might just go off an each-way price under Silvestre De Sousa.
4.50 York: Eastern World

This is another extremely competitive event but Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi colt should go very close.
His form with the very useful Establish last time out ties in with others in this field, including probable favourite and hard-pulling Finest Sound, but he is lightly raced and may still have improvement in him.
A good pace is guaranteed, which means his wider draw may not be an inconvenience, especially as it seems likely they will come up the middle of the track in the straight.
