2.00 Kempton: The Lost King
This lightly-raced gelding certainly found his form on his seasonal debut where he stayed on late to beat Popmaster by a neck over seven furlongs at Kempton.
He is only a pound worse off with that admirable performer now, but I think he might actually beat him further this time.
Andrew Balding’s four-year-old is likely to be better suited by stepping up to a mile compared to that rival and, given how lightly-raced he is, he might have more to offer. Oisin Murphy also takes over in the saddle.
3.33 Ludlow: Sallyville Lady
I will be a shade surprised if this mare does not go off at short odds here, despite her relative inexperience.
Dan Skelton has switched her to handicaps after just two promising runs over hurdles, and she looks to have been given a lenient opening handicap mark.
She finished second behind a decent mare last time out, and that rival has gone on to score again since, so Sallyville Lady’s rating could easily be higher.
Soft ground is demonstrably not an issue to her, and the trip looks ideal, so this appears a good opportunity.
4.07 Ludlow: Following Chapter
There aren’t many that can be fancied in this relatively uncompetitive handicap hurdle, and Following Chapter has a good chance of following up his first victory.
Alastair Ralph’s gelding had been showing mild progression on four previous starts over the minimum trip, but took a big step forward last time out when upped in distance, and he won nicely.
Two winners since have already booster the form, so it's proving a decent race for the grade, and being raised 8lb looks perfectly fair for that performance.
If anything, this race is a weaker affair, and I expect a strong showing.
