Jujubella is 20lb higher than when she won the first of her three all-weather handicaps this year but I will be quite surprised if she cannot continue her improvement on turf.
She did run on turf when trained in Ireland but pretty much exclusively on heavy ground and over too short a trip. Her rating was so low that opportunities were very limited on turf, so it is only on the all-weather that she has been climbing the ratings.
There are certainly few in this field who aren’t very exposed and, provided she can transfer her progress, I think she can land her first turf win.
4.42 Ayr: Sir Garfield
Sir Garfield has a good course record which may be down to his prominent racing style, something that tends to be successful at Ayr, getting him into a strong position.
He is drawn in stall 5 this afternoon and he should be able to at least get a prominent spot in this field and hopefully kick on in the home straight.
The six-year-old came back to winning form making all the running in an apprentice handicap at Catterick last time out and is unpenalised in this, so is clearly decently handicapped. Over his ideal trip here and with plenty in his favour, he should go close at least.
7.40 Kempton: Wobwobwob
I am sticking with Adrian Keatley’s likeable handicapper despite disappointing when I tipped him up on the all-weather last time out.
I am happy to agree that he simply needed the run last time as he has been admirably consistent as he climbed the ranks last season. He plied his trade in much higher grade handicaps than this one and looks capable of winning a good one but he is back down to the grade he last won in here, as his all-weather mark has been left behind by his ascendency on turf.
His smart trainer is obviously keen to exploit this lower mark and I expect Wobwobwob to show he is just as capable on the all-weather.
He is drawn wide here but is generally played late so I am not too concerned and a two-year-old winner at the Dante meeting shows the yard is in good form at present.
