Betting expert Dave Nevison likes the prospects of three runners who will enjoy the likely soft ground at Goodwood on Wednesday. Watch what happens live on Racing TV.
3.00 Goodwood: Arkhalia Flynn
This most consistent gelding has run well after an absence in the past and, with his trainer in excellent form, it is worth take a chance on his fitness after a summer off. Hopefully, he has just been given a break while the ground was likely to be against him.
Arkhalia Flynn had a very productive time last September when racing on very soft ground, winning two decent handicaps. He’s been beaten off this mark subsequently, but he has trip, track and ground to suit, plus may come back stronger.
4.45 Goodwood: Crystal Flyer
Crystal Flyer has not troubled the judge since she won on the all-weather in the spring, but she has raced on fast ground and has often been quite highly tried.
The signs were more encouraging in a hot handicap at Doncaster last time out and her turn may be coming round again soon.
The four-year-old filly is now a couple of pounds lower than for her Southwell win and she is back on soft ground. She was second in this corresponding race last season and with her stable in good form she can go well again at a good price.
5.20 Goodwood: Rory Rocket
Rory Rocket is most consistent and goes well on testing ground.
He was third in a similar event over course and distance last time and, before that, was second, beaten just half a length, and has been dropped 1lb for that latest effort.
He is in a slightly lower grade here and can end a frustrating run of seconds and lose the maiden tag.
