12.50 Sedgefield: Tanking Along

Tanking Along clearly didn’t enjoy his season jumping fences last term and was very well-backed last time when Patrick Neville gave up that challenge and switched the gelding back to hurdles.
He lived up to his name for most of the race and might have been in front too long, and was possibly too fresh on his first start for five months.
The six-year-old definitely looks well enough handicapped to win a race and, if he is ridden with a little more restraint this time, he could break his maiden here.

2.23 Market Rasen: Bitsnbuckles

There isn’t combo in better form this autumn than Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen, and I am guessing it will stay that way throughout the rest of the season.
This looks a fairly competitive handicap for the grade, but Bitsnbuckles represents the hottest team and that factor is the decisive one for me.
He carried 12-0 on his final start last season and probably should have won, but might have taken things up too early at Wetherby where the home straight is deceptively punishing, so he could have gone up more than 2lb.
I have no doubts about the seven-year-old's fitness for this reappearance and the trip is fine.

2.58 Market Rasen: Queen Of Steel

Queen Of Steel joined Fergal O’Brien with basement handicap marks under both codes and was immediately successful over hurdles and on the Flat.
She won over hurdles twice in quick succession off a mark of just 79 in the spring and when attentions were turned to the Flat, she won three more races this summer.
She was ridden too forcefully at Pontefract last time out and, unsurprisingly, couldn’t repel a late challenge, but it was still a good effort off 62.
To extrapolate that mark across to jumps via the anecdotal rule of thumb suggests a hurdles mark in the high 90s might be manageable.
If that calculation works, then Queen Of Steel is clearly still thrown in over hurdles and will be favourite to complete a jumps hat-trick.
