Dave Nevison Saturday Selection Box: Sandown and Beverley tips

Betting expert Dave Nevison has a couple of fancies at both Beverley and Sandown on a day when Racing TV will also be covering Chelmsford and The Curragh.

1.50 Sandown: Lyndon B

I tipped this horse on his penultimate start on the back of a tumbling handicap mark and a couple of unlucky efforts.
Everything seemed to go smoothly for the veteran handicapper when he hit the front seemingly going well. However, he was in front too soon and faded into fifth place.
He reverted to type last time out in a big field at Newbury. He could seen going best of all behind a wall of horses but just couldn’t get to the winner, who was not seriously challenged.
Callum Shepherd knows what he has to do at a track Lyndon B has excelled at in the past and he is certainly still on a well-handicapped runner.

2.35 Beverley: Frank The Spark

Paul Midgley’s four-year-old is lightly raced by comparison to many familiar names from this yard and looks a sprint handicapper who may well have considerable upside.
Frank The Spark broke his maiden, shortly after wind surgery, in a low-grade handicap at Bath which was strong form for the grade and has produced a couple of winners. He then contested a strongly contested 0-65 handicap at Ayr, where he would have won in a few more strides.
On his latest start he went to Nottingham and won comfortably from a previous winner. He looks ready for the slight step up in trip at a track that should suit him well.

4.55 Beverley: Light Speed

Light Speed completed a hat trick of wins when he hit form for Andrew Balding before he seemed to lose his spark for that yard.
It didn’t look too promising on his first two runs, trying different trips, for Gemma Tutty, but he hit form in great style at Chester last time out, looking value for more than his 1½ length victory.
He has gone up 4lb for that win but is still 6lb lower than his peak, and off the same mark as for his last Balding win. Given the way the trainer has been going all season, I am prepared to stick with him now that the four-year-old has come back to form.

5.20 Sandown: Lil Guff

Lil Guff has a good record at Sandown Park with two wins and two placed efforts from five runs at the track.
She won a couple of starts ago here when well backed under Oisin Murphy, and after a couple of unplaced efforts away from this track she is now off a mark just 2lb higher (and 2lb lower than when she won here last summer).
The Kublers have become one of my favourites and they look like they have found another good Saturday opportunity here.
