Dave Nevison has a couple of fancies at Goodwood plus another on the all-weather at Kempton. Watch how they fare live on Racing TV.
3.55 Goodwood: Bullfinch at a general 9-4
This is a tightly-knit Listed event but there is no doubt that Bullfinch is the horse going forwards.
He makes the jump out of handicap company here but that is more than justified given his latest success off a rating of 95 at Kempton.
It has to be taken on trust that he is as effective on turf as on the all-weather and he is unproven beyond a mile, but I am happy to rely on Roger Charlton’s judgement there
He looks likely to get the lead, which will probably suit, and we should certainly find out if he stays in that case. Bullfinch looks thoroughly game and a class act in the making.
4.05 Goodwood: Kingston Kurrajong at a general 33-1
This horse hasn’t had a brilliant season but has certainly shown on occasions that if things go right he has the ability to win a race like this.
He last won off 77, under Tuesday’s jockey, and ran really well at Newbury earlier in the season off his present mark of 75.
His past two runs can be forgiven as they were not run to suit him but back to a favourable mark, with a decent draw and from a yard in form I am hopeful of a good run.
7.30 Kempton: O’Reilly’s Pass at 7-2 with bet365
Might be a slow learner and sometimes misses the break but does seem to be improving with his races this season and provided things go OK for him has a good chance in a modest handicap.
He has been well-backed on his past two starts suggesting stable confidence in his ability and definitely stayed the trip last time at Lingfield.
William Buick might be a significant booking here and the opposition lacks depth.
