Betting expert Dave Nevison winners on Tuesday included 16-1 chance Boasty. He likes the look of a sprinter at Newmarket on Wednesday plus has a couple of fancies at Kempton in the evening.
3.20 Newmarket: Lorton
Might just have got ideal conditions to break a long losing run here as she needs a strongly run race to help her settle and enable her to then finish strongly.
That good pace looks assured here with several confirmed front-runners among the opposition. She has won over 6f on the Rowley Mile but now seems to need at least 7f. She ran well over that trip here last time and it definitely looks as though she is now worth a try at a mile, especially against her own sex.
Several of the opposition ran disappointingly last time and although the last horse I tipped from the Camacho yard ran desperately last week I am far from convinced the yard has gone off the boil just yet. Lorton should be an each-way price but will not fail on the ground for sure.
7.45 Kempton: Johnny Reb
Provided he gets away on terms I think he will win this competitive handicap.
He can miss the break at times and did so last time, but eventually only went down by a nose. He has an habitual slow starter drawn next to him here, so hopefully will hold his position on the rail and get the lead, which could be key dropped back to 6f.
He is ridden by James Doyle for the first time, who will be having just his second ride for the trainer.
8.15 Kempton: Gherkin
Oisin Murphy is sticking around for this last race – a 0-55 handicap - to ride this one for the second time and the hint should be taken.
Gherkin is a long-standing maiden but even though runner up more times than is healthy a glance through those defeats does not reveal any obvious lack of resolve.
He has more ability than most of his rivals, many of them having already revealed themselves as not very good bets for win purposes.
