It is trappy stuff on day three of the Doncaster St Leger meeting on Friday so just one fancy for me there. Salisbury puts on a good quality twilight card, where hopefully I can get a couple of winners.
He certainly hasn’t gone backwards for joining Andrew Balding from David Simcock to judge by his debut for the yard last time.
He appreciated the drop down in grade to Listed company at Chester and has nothing to fear on that form with Selina, who he beat a comfortable three lengths.
This running of the bet365 Doncaster Cup is not as strong as it sometimes is and he has a good opportunity to win a Group Two if he can get past the Sir Mark Prescott winning machine Revolver, who jumps up from handicaps.
September is when to look out for Chris Wall runners over the years and this filly has been prepared in typical style.
She cost only 11,000gns but is better bred than that price tag and after three quiet runs at big prices came good in no uncertain terms off a mark of 53 last time at Yarmouth.
Unsurprisingly, she was strong in the market for her handicap debut and she travelled very strongly before winning by two lengths. Hopefully, she will settle well from her outside draw here and, if she does, I expect her to power home.
Got a bit agitated before the Ebor and started slowly. There are no stalls for his contest and he might well enjoy that.
He didn’t end up running too badly at York but never got into the race and it was still disappointing.
He has generally been most progressive over the past two seasons and I believe he still has improvement in him. He is certainly a battler and stays well, plus will be suited by this stiffer track. Any rain would help but isn’t essential for him to resume the winning thread.
