The Silver Cambridgeshire does not seem to work and I suspect the £50,000 race, featuring only eight runners at
Newmarket on Friday, might not be around too much longer.
However, I do think the it gives us a solid bet before the main event on Saturday.
Mick Channon has his team in good form and this three-year-old looks poised to add to his tally.
Venusta has only won one race and it was a handicap off a mark of 69 on heavy ground. She runs off the same mark here and conditions will again be testing.
She was back to her best when third last time and, while her stamina is an unknown, she indicated it would not be an issue with the manner she kept on at Sandown.
The promising Scott McCullagh also eases her burden by 5lb.

Agravain ran well in defeat at Musselburgh
I was half-hoping this one (one of my Expert Eye picks) would next be seen bossing lower-grade horses in a 0-70 but I have decided to stick with him here in this 0-90 grade, especially at a huge price.
He did nothing wrong behind the progressive Just Hubert at Musselburgh last time and I expect the market will undervalue that form by assuming he had the run of the race and was flattered.
I believe it represented genuine improvement and he had some solid handicappers behind.
The trip on Friday should suit him even better and the track is ideal for horses who can get into a rhythm in front.
This race should not really be called the Silver Cambridgeshire because it will bear no resemblance to Saturday’s cavalry charge.
However, it does provide a good opportunity for a horse who has been fabulously consistent this season to land a decent prize.
Data Protection was beaten by the leniently treated Hammer Gun last time and previous to that came up against a gamble from Hughie Morrison’s yard.
I cannot see anything that is unexposed or potentially thrown in among his rivals. Most look to have tough tasks or have not been at their best of late.
I make Data Protection the day’s best bet.
