3.15 Meydan: Catullus
Catullus was beaten a short-head by Northern Champion at Meydan last time out where a wide draw in stall 14 denied him victory.
He travelled well on that occasion and a drop in trip here to six furlongs looks ideal.
He has never raced over this distance, but his pedigree is full of speed and his strong travelling style looks ideally suited to sprinting.
4.25 Meydan: Archivist
This horse was a most progressive three-year-old for William Haggas and shaped well on his first start at Meydan for his new yard.
He made the running that day and was a bit fresh and keen on the lead, but with that run behind him, he should prove more tractable.
He looked to be a group horse in the making last summer and, if that impression is correct, a mark of 97 underestimates him.
5.00 Meydan: Cats By Fine
Its like the good old days with Pat Dobbs and Doug Watson teaming up once again on a regular basis and they combined to win with this horse last time out here at Meydan.
He won by a length that day and has only been raised 1lb by the handicapper which looks lenient enough and gives him an excellent chance of following up.
A wide draw over six furlongs on the dirt here is not always a disadvantage, so being drawn widest of all in stall 8 should not be seen as a problem for this horse, who has plenty of early speed.
5.35 Meydan: Desperate Hero
This horse has not replicated his excellent European form since racing in the UAE, but he is becoming dangerously well-handicapped off a mark of 87.
It is worthy remembering that his last win at Hamilton saw him beat American Affair off a mark of 91. That horse went on to win the Group One King Charles III stakes at Royal Ascot and, if Desperate Hero could get close to that form again, he will go close here at a big price.
