With 16 winners from 57 tips so far in August and a profit of almost £60 to a £1 level stake, in-form tipster Dave Nevison bids to end the month in style with his three selections on Tuesday.
On a day that is difficult to find bets, I am going to try and steal a bit of money with a horse who did me no harm when runner-up at Newmarket on his penultimate start.
I do not believe Yankee Stadium is ungenuine and he performs to a level way above any rival he meets here, he just does not possess the gears to win a handicap at the level he runs to.
He raced up with the pace at Newmarket and I expect him to make the running here, and he should be able to pull clear in the last couple of furlongs to land this seller.
Oisin Murphy is back on board this five-year-old on Tuesday and, given the champion jockey’s record on him, I expect it to make a big difference.
Murphy has won plus finished second three times – and was beaten less than a length on those three occasions - from four rides on the selection.
Spirit Warning has spent almost all of the past two seasons being ridden by apprentices and amateur jockeys, including recently by an amateur yet to ride a winner.
There has been the odd disappointment under a seasoned professional as well but, given the way Murphy is performing at the moment, I expect an improved performance from his mount.
Spirit Warning goes well at this track and has dropped markedly down the weights for his recent modest efforts plus is now 25lb below his last winning mark which came under Murphy.
It is a little concerning that he has been off the track since mid-July as he certainly looked as though his turn was on the horizon following his latest effort.
He might have won last time out had he not met trouble in the early part of the race and although his Cambridgeshire-winning days are long behind him now, he showed there that he is capable of winning off this rating.
Pat Cosgrave was on board over course and distance on that occasion and will be aware of his mount hanging on this tricky track here.
