Dave Nevison: My three horse racing tips for Nottingham and Cartmel

Our resident website tipster Dave Nevison has enjoyed a profitable week and nominates his three fancies for Nottingham and Cartmel on Wednesday. Enjoy more live racing from the Curragh and Kempton Park live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
2.10 Cartmel: The Steward
This week is effectively trainer James Moffatt’s Royal Ascot with three meetings at Cartmel over a five-day spell and his small string are always at their peak for this mini festival.
In my view, there is no way that The Steward is not going to be spot on for his first run for three months.
The Steward won after a similar break earlier in the year so being fresh is obviously no detriment to him showing his form, while Charlotte Jones gets on very well with him and the jockey’s record at Cartmel is absolutely exceptional.
It is not difficult to see the 11-year-old running very well dropped to a seller for the first time here.
2.30 Nottingham: Beggarman
Beggarman spends most of his time running on the all-weather - or has up to now – and is yet to score on grass, but his recent efforts have been improved and I am confident that he can capitalise on a much lower turf mark here.
He won very convincingly over this trip last time and under this jockey, while he certainly has the winning habit for a relatively low-grade handicapper.
Hughie Morrison has his string in excellent form and does well at Nottingham, and the trainer looks to have placed Beggarman very well to still have him qualified for a 0-65 event after a prolonged run of winning form.
2.40 Cartmel: Lock Down Luke
Jackie Stephen has him entered at Perth (where he won his Bumper) at the weekend, but the trainer has chosen to come further south from her Borders yard and I think the journey may well be rewarded.
Lock Down Luke scored narrowly last time out for his first success over obstacles, but he beat a field of in-form horses and certainly battled on well after he had been headed. He had been off for a couple of months and his trainer had been out of form, but the string is in good form now and Lock Down Luke can follow up here.
