Dave Nevison likes a trio running on a midweek Nottingham card that you can watch live on Racing TV. We will also be showing the action from Wetherby, Punchestown and Kempton Park. Don't forget, you can also watch decdicated coverage from each course on Racing TV Extra.
Improved markedly on his second run after a break, having been gelded, when beaten a nose at Ayr. He seemed to really appreciate the drop down to 1m2f and his previous best run this season came on an easy surface, suggesting that he has a lot in his favour.
He will be very comfortable down in 0-90 grade - he runs off 92 here under the new rules - which represents a significant class drop. Mr Alan has relatively fresh legs, having had a summer break, and his trainer, George Boughey, had struck with three of his past five runners before racing on Tuesday.
Won two races over 5f in the spring and, naturally, rose in the weights. He has not won since but has run some very creditable races (as well as the odd poor run) but now finds himself 2lb lower than for his latest success.
His past five runs have all come at 6f and he is back a furlong, which should suit to judging by his efforts this season.
Ava Go Joe is a previous course winner and ran well enough last time in a 0-105 handicap at Ripon, so will appreciate this drop down to 0-90 company. He has a good draw in stall 3, with the likely pacesetters either side of him.
It is perhaps surprising that Wade’s Magic has not run in too many of these modest Nottingham sprint handicaps, which feature regularly in the course’s programme, not least because Timeform reckon he put up his best ever effort in a backend sprint handicap here in 2021.
He might not be quite as good as he was last season but he is still consistent and in decent form at present. He has plenty going for him here with a fast pace almost guaranteed. That will suit him perfectly over this trip.
