Dave Nevison: Havlin return can spark profits at Ascot

John Gosden is obviously determined to ensure that one of his key team members, Rab Havlin, earns enough money for his winter holidays after the senior jockey had to sit out most of the summer due to an international ban.
Havlin got given a steering job for his comeback at Lingfield on Thursday and though Eternally will not have things quite so easy it will be a major shock to me if she fails to follow up last year’s success in the October Stakes at Ascot 4.10 on Saturday.
She is admirably consistent and she ran an absolute blinder in the Sceptre Stakes when second at Doncaster and that run is good enough to win on Saturday. Ground is no issue so the 11-10 works for me.
Blue Point beat Harry Angel first up this season but has clearly not progressed as well as the Clive Cox champion sprinter-elect over the summer.
He has not gone backwards though, and has nothing of that calibre to beat in the Group Three John Guest Bengough Stakes.
On a day when I fancy largely short-priced runners the treble is made up by Yattwee, who ran a blinder on defeated seasonal reappearance behind Donjuan Triumphant.
That one went on to win the big race at Haydock last weekend so the form looks pretty strong.
Yattwee has been given enough time not to bounce and the combination of Godolphin and Josephine Gordon is generally one to be with rather than against. Yattwee should win the Totescoop EBF Stallions Guisborough Stakes.
I understand backing these three at short prices is not for everybody so a Trixie consisting of four bets of three doubles and treble might a better option.

3.55 Redcar: Yattwee at a generally available 4-1
4.10 Ascot: Eternally at 11-10
