Clive Cox says Heartache in "tremendous form" for Cheveley Park Stakes

Clive Cox says his dual Group Two winner Heartache is in "tremendous form" for the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

Victorious in both the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster ten days ago, Heartache, 4-1 with William Hill, is part of a classy 16-strong entry for this six furlong fillies’ contest.

Cox said: “I am very pleased to report that Heartache has come back 100 per cent from her Flying Childers start, which was little more than a week ago. She is in tremendous form.

“I think and hope that the step up to six furlongs in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park will be within her boundaries, especially if conditions on the Rowley Mile remain as they are now. I am hopeful that the course does not get too much rain before Saturday.

“Heartache is clear very classy and, as a very well-balanced filly, I hope that she will handle the course well."

He added: “Adam Kirby missed out as he was unable to do the weight in the Flying Childers but will be back on board on Saturday.”

The race is being sponsored by Juddmonte for the first time and is part of a seven–race card which also features the Group One Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes, the Group Two Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes and the first leg of the Betfred Autumn Double, the Betfred Cambridgeshire Handicap.

Heartache’s potential opponents include the Aidan O’Brien-trained pair of Churchill’s full-sister, Clemmie, winner of the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket’s Moët and Chandon July Festival, and the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine, Happily. The former is 7-4 favourite with Hills, with Happily 7-1 with SkyBet.

France could be represented by the Group 3 Albany Stakes winner, Different League, while, alongside Heartache, the home team also features Threading and Madeline, the first two home in last month’s Group 2 Lowther Stakes.

There is one supplementary entrym at a cost of £16,000, in the shape of the Dean Ivory-trained Eirene, winner of the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes and subsequently runner-up in the Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes.
