Thu 5 Jan 2017

Prize-money for this year's Cheltenham Festival has been boosted to a record total of just over £4.3million.

A total of £190,000 has been added to the fund, benefiting 23 of the 28 races over the four days in March.

The most significant cash injections are in the Arkle Trophy and the RSA Chase, with prize-money for both races raised by £25,000 to £175,000.

The five most valuable races at the Festival - the Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Stayers' Hurdle and the Ryanair Chase - have not gone up in prize-money.
