Charlie Appleby feels it is unlikely Scottish will recover from injury in time to run in the major races in Australia.
Second in the Caulfield Cup last year, Appleby was hoping to take him back to the Melbourne event this term.
However, the five-year-old picked up an injury just days before he was due to run in the Arlington Million.
Appleby said: "He has got a fetlock injury. He is at the vets at the moment and they are still doing diagnostic work. He won't be rushing back.
"He will stay in the USA and we will run him down to Kentucky to work on him.
"We will probably give Australia a miss and if he comes right in time, we might go to Dubai."
