Catterick treble for Jason Hart offset by seven-day ban

Tue 12 Sep 2017

Jockey Jason Hart had an eventful afternoon at Catterick as a treble on the card was tempered by a seven-day suspension.

Hart teamed up with North Yorkshire trainer John Quinn to win races aboard Captain Jameson (6-1), Wotabreeze (7-1) and Indian Pursuit (15-2).

But he also incurred the wrath of the stewards after he finished third on the Quinn-trained Spirit Of Zebedee in division two of the six-furlong handicap.

A statement issued by the raceday stewards read: "Jason Hart, the rider of Spirit Of Zebedee, placed third, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post.

"After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Hart was suspended for seven days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that could have finished second."
