Paddy Twomey is looking ahead to the future with Carmers, after confirming the Royal Ascot winner will not be seen again this season.
A winner of his first three starts, including when striking in the Queen’s Vase at the big meeting, the son of Wootton Bassett also finished second in the Great Voltigeur Stakes before ending the year by searching for Classic honours when fifth in the St Leger at Doncaster.
“He’s in good form and came out of it well, but won’t do anything else this year,” said Twomey.
“He’s an exciting horse for staying races in the future.”
Carmers may have to wait until next season before enhancing his CV, but in the more immediate future, stablemate One Look will bid for a first Group One success in the Prix de l’Opera at ParisLongchamp next Sunday.
Second in the Blandford Stakes in her first outing for new owners Wathnan Racing, she will be joined in the French capital by Oyster Stakes scorer La Isla Mujeres who is bound for Saturday’s Prix de Royallieu.
Twomey added: “One Look will go for the Prix de l’Opera next Sunday. She’s in great form and came out of her last run at the Curragh very well.
“La Isla Mujeres is going to go for the Royallieu next Saturday, so we are taking two to France.”
