Top presenter has divided his selctions between Epsom and The Curragh, both live on Racing TV after Luck On Sunday, our weekly show that is free to view. And remember to watch The Verdict with Angus on Monday night as he reflects on the Cambridgeshire meeting.
1.45 Epsom: Galileo Island
Galileo Island lost his maiden tag at Chelmsford last time out in impressive fashion. He made all the running having had to work hard for the lead from the widest stall and thereafter galloped four lengths clear of his nearest rival.
He has been allotted a mark of 79 for his nursery debut, which does not look harsh given how well he is progressing. In a small field with no other front-runners, I can see him again making all. He rates a strong play.
2.37 Curragh: Black Caviar Gold
This filly lost her maiden tag at Cork last time out in a fast time and gave the impression that she won with plenty left in the tank.
That was only her third start, and she still looked green when first put under pressure, but her response once she got organised was impressive.
She readily pulled three lengths clear, and she is the only filly in the race to have recorded a triple digit speed figure. She is stepping up in grade here but still rates a solid proposition.
3.12 Curragh: Big Gossey
Big Gossey is a
Curragh specialist, having won here eight times and comes back here off a second place in a handicap off a mark of 104.
That effort shows that he is as good as ever and a repeat may suffice, even though this is a Group Three contest.
He won the Listed Gladness stakes at this track earlier in the season, where he beat the very useful Camille Pissarro, and with plenty of his rivals out of form he looks the one to be with at a track where he is in his element.
4.05 Epsom: Lord Melbourne
He has won four of his eight starts this season and looked better than ever when winning at Doncaster last time.
That success came over 12 furlongs in a fiercely competitive race but he is equally effective over this ten-furlong trip and a 4lb rise in the weights may be lenient.
He is well drawn in stall 1 and this contest lacks the depth of the one he took at Doncaster.
