Brian Meehan targets Middle Park bid with exciting Barraquero

Exciting juvenile Barraquero will test his powers at the highest level in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket later this month.
After finishing third behind 2000 Guineas favourite Expert Eye on his racecourse debut at Newbury in mid-June, Brian Meehan's colt bolted up on his second start at Chepstow.
He stepped up in grade for the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and after winning handsomely, he is being prepared for a tilt at Group One glory on September 30.
Meehan said: "The Prix Morny at Deauville always comes a bit quick after Goodwood, so we gave him plenty of time and the plan is to go for the Middle Park at the end of the month. He won't run before then.
"Ideally it'll be good ground at Newmarket. Even though he won and won easily at Goodwood, that soft ground pulled him about a bit and it took him a few days to recover.
"We're very happy with him now and we're looking forward to it."
It promises to be an exciting few weeks for the Manton handler, with Raheen House gearing up for the William Hill St Leger in a fortnight's time.
The son of Sea The Stars is a best priced 12-1 for the season's final Classic at Doncaster after winning the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket on his latest appearance in July.
"He's on course for the Leger. He seems in very good form at home," Meehan added.
"We're very pleased with what he's doing. We couldn't be happier with him, to be honest."
