Autocratic are still scratching their heads after he flopped for the second consecutive time at Windsor last week.
The four-year-old, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, looked set for a lucrative campaign when lifting the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown in May.
He did not reappear until the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock last month but did not run to form and was again under par in the Winter Hill Stakes.
Autocratic will have a spin at the weekend to assess his condition before any more plans are made.
"He was very disappointing. We haven't been able to discover why, so we are at a loss really," said Chris Richardson, managing director for owners Cheveley Park Stud.
"We are just waiting for Sir Michael to fully assess him. He's going to work and we'll see what the form is."
