1.50 Musselburgh: Fantasy World
This Nicky Henderson-trained gelding could be a useful recruit to the novice hurdling scene, given his useful form on the flat.
On his final start on the flat in October, he won the Listed BetMGM Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot, an effort which suggests he is at least worthy of a rating of 90.
That is a level of ability, if translated to hurdles, that would make him hard to beat here.
2.30 Punchestown: Lucky Lyreen
The tougher the test of stamina, the better for Lucky Lyreen who relished every yard of three miles when winning at Down Royal last time out, and the three furlong step up in trip here is going to be ideal.
He handles heavy conditions, and has Jack Kennedy on board, which is always a bonus.
3.00 Punchestown: Lazare De Star
Zeus Power got the better of
Lazare De Star when they met last time out, but a 5lb swing in the weights in favour of Lazare De Star could see the form reveresed.
Lazare De Star shaped like the best horse in that contest having raced keenly before being collared close home.
The fitting of a hood for the first time should help him settle better, and see his race out stronger, so he's the pick.
3.50 Musselburgh: Crystello
This does not look the strongest contest, and it can go to Crystello, who starts life in handicaps off a lowly-looking mark of 100.
He shaped with promise on his qualifying run at Taunton when not given the hardest time in a maiden hurdle, and he hails from the in-form yard of Harry Derham, who has a number of good chances on the card. This contender could be the best of those.
