The Verdict Extra: this dynamic duo could be deadly

This week, the Verdict concentrated on the action at the three-day Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket.
The best time performance was achieved by Al Nayyir in the Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes.
The heavy ground contributed to him putting up a career-best performance and under similar conditions he looks sure to run well in the Long-Distance Cup at Ascot later this month.
He is 6/1 for that race and whilst Kyprios will be very hard to beat, he looks the each-way option at this stage.

I have identified a couple of extra performances that the Race IQ data identified as being particularly noteworthy:

Don't jilt John

John L Sullivan is one for your Racing TV tracker because he looks well treated and, judged on this effort, is ready to win.
He finished third in this handicap, but the Race IQ data identifies him as being better than the result.
He was held-up in rear in a race that was run at a modest early tempo. The first three furlongs were slow when judged against the Race IQ par sectionals and this steady early gallop allowed all the runners to save energy for a fast finish, with every horse in the race recording a Finishing Speed Percentage (FSP) over 100%.
Given that those in front of him were not stopping, he did well from his poor position to get into third place.
Angus is a fan of John L Sullivan, third at Ayr last time.
He surged from the back of the field to get into contention, his penultimate furlong being the fastest in the race (11.32s) this followed a previous furlong of 10.78s.
In terms of energy distribution, he paid for that big effort in the final furlong where his 12.19s was not fast enough for him to get his head in front.
Nonetheless the speed he showed to take him from eighth place to third suggests he is in good form and can win a similar event soon.
Mr King also caught the eye this weekend.
The Cambridgeshire was a draw race. Racing on the far side of the track from a low draw was crucial.
This should take nothing away from the impressive winner , who is surely destined for Pattern-race success.
Angus believes Mr King was a horse to take out of the Cambridgeshire
Of those drawn high, Waiting all Night did best in eighth place from stall 34, but it was the effort of Mr King from stall 33 in 13th that the data identifies as being one to take out of the race.
This was a change of tactics for Mr King who is normally held up.
This time he led the stands side group at a strong tempo and made a premature effort which saw him weaken in the final two furlongs.
