Sectionals data from RaceiQ and TPD is now available as part of our race results display on racingtv.com and the Racing TV mobile app for all British and Irish races. This page will provide information on our new Sectionals tab, and on the data that is shown within it.
What the new Sectionals tab shows
Our revamped sectionals display now contains furlong-by-furlong data for all British and Irish races. The display includes an enhanced data output with unique new datapoints, and new visual features to help contextualise the sectionals.
1.
Official sectional time
The official sectional time for each horse for each furlong of a race.
2.
Race position by furlong
The race position of each horse at the end of each furlong.
3.
Cumulative time from leader
The total time (in seconds) each horse was from the leader at the end of each furlong. For example, if by the end of 2 furlongs, the leader's race time was 26.00secs and the subject horse's race time was 26.52secs, this would display as +0.52. If a horse was leading the race, this would display as +0.00.
4.
Pace graph
The black line underneath the sectional data indicates the pace of each horse for each furlong (excluding the first furlong, which is skewed by horses starting from a stationary point). This is calculated at race level, so the fastest furlong achieved by any horse in the race will be the uppermost point on any horse's graph, and the slowest furlong (excluding the first furlong) achieved will be the lowest point.
5.
RaceiQ Par Sectionals
The sectionals for all British and Irish Flat races will be colour-coded to represent how they compare vs the RaceiQ expected par. Factors such as going, distance, class, and course are all considered within the RaceiQ Par model.
6.
RaceiQ Time Index
At the top of each sectional display for British and Irish Flat races will be the RaceiQ Time Index score. This compares the win time to the model's expected win time - which factors in going, distance, class and course - and produces a score out of 10 for the win time achieved. Alongside this there is also the Time Index average for that meeting, and the time difference vs Par.
