One of last season’s leading two-year-olds Zavateri is being aimed at a return to Glorious Goodwood in late-July before a crack at the QEII at Ascot in October.
The Without Parole colt was second to Alparslan in the Watership Down Stud Too Darn Hot Greenham Stakes on his comeback last month but was subsequently ruled out of the English and Irish 2000 Guineas due to a minor setback.
Watch: Zavateri winning the Coral Vintage Stakes in 2025
However, his trainer Eve Johnson Houghton reports that he is now back in exercise and will bid to win another race at Glorious Goodwood – where he won the Vintage Stakes last season – in late-July, with connections yet to decide between the Sussex Stakes over a mile or the Lennox Stakes over a furlong shorter.
Johnson Houghton told Racing TV: “He’s great, he’s started being exercised and the plan is to head back here [to Goodwood] in the autumn.
“We are aiming for the Sussex or the Lennox, we aren’t sure yet.
“And then the plan will be the QEII at Ascot on Champions Day.”
