World Pool Preview: Ryan Moore confident of big run from Mission Central

Tote’s Jack Ready and Racing TV presenter Amy Ryan join Johnny Ward to look ahead to Saturday’s World Pool action, where Ryan Moore believes Mission Central will be 'bang there' in the July Cup.
A new meeting that wasn’t on the original roster of World Pool meetings – where 70% of the runners have paid more than traditional bookmakers – Saturday’s Newmarket card sees 11 runners going to post for the feature Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai July Cup Stakes, due off at 16:35 BST.
Ryan is siding with the Aidan O’Brien runner, as she explains: “I’m keen on Mission Central. I thought he was given a fantastic ride at Royal Ascot, and the step back up to six furlongs will suit him. Ryan [Moore] just sat still on him – which meant he got quite far back – but that patience and confidence paid off.
“The step up in trip will suit and he has proven form against older horses – the three-year-olds have a good record here.
“He’s starting to show us what he’s made of and I think the sky's the limit.”
Ready, meanwhile, is in agreement that Mission Central is a major player, but also thinks that outsider Coppull has a live chance.
He said: “I don’t think he got the rub of the green at Royal Ascot, he was on the wrong side. He was first home on his side, he’s still unexposed this season and he won well first time up at Ascot.
“I think he can run really well at the forecast big odds.”
The team also hear from jockey Ryan Moore, who said: “It was a very solid performance. He’s gone from listed races and stepped back up in class and handled it well.
“He’s unbeaten over six furlongs as a two-year-old, so this is going to be a bit more tactical as it’s a smaller field but I think the July Course will suit him well and on the figures he must be bang there.
“I’m looking forward to riding him.”
As well as previewing the big Group One, the studio team also look ahead to the Superlative Stakes (16:00 BST), the Bunbury Cup (15:25 BST) and much more.
