1.53 Musselburgh: Double Time
The Tim Vaughan-trained seven-year-old had dropped 19lb in the weights before he won off a mark of 62 at Windsor recently and he has confirmed that return to form this autumn with a win on the all-weather at Kempton last time.
It was only last June that Double Time was winning off a mark of 79 and he has plenty of back form to suggest he is still well in off his mark of 70 now that his is going well again.
He has never raced at Musselburgh but the track favours horses with Double Time’s running style.
2.25 Musselburgh: Sayidah New Bay
This three-year-old filly looks to be the one with most potential upside having shown her first real form on his handicap debut at Killarney recently.
She was beaten less than a length last time, having been ridden much more positively than in her maiden races and knuckled down after being headed.
By New Bay, it is difficult to see that she will not be well suited by the extra furlong here and her trainer has replaced her previous apprentice rider with the excellent Jason Hart.
Her mark is only 1lb higher than for her run in Ireland last time and that may be lenient.
4.03 Musselburgh: Spooky Wooky
Spooky Wooky is another three-year-old maiden who looks to have a good chance of getting off the mark after a promising run last time.
Andrew Elliott would probably admit to having this horse too far out of its ground over course and distance but Spooky Wooky fully confirmed he stays this 2m trip and is in fact well suited by it.
He is in a similar but slightly lower grade race this time and both horses who finished in front of him scored on their next start, making the form look even stronger.
I am sure Elliott will be keen to make up for last time and this looks an excellent opportunity.
