Betting expert Dave Nevison is taking aim at handicaps on the cards at Musselburgh and Kempton, which you can watch live on Racing TV.
4.05 Musselburgh: Arnhem
Jim Goldie clearly holds the key to this race with four runners in the 11-strong field. He may well win it with this nine-year-old, who he has only had for a short period after taking over from Rebecca Menzies.
Arnhem won on his debut for the yard, under Paul Mulrennan, and then ran well on his latest start when he narrowly failed to get up at Doncaster.
Mulrennan is back on board on Wednesday and Arnhem is only 1lb higher, but just over a year ago he was running off marks in the mid 90s so he still has plenty of back form to recover.
He looks to be well drawn in stall 9 and has every opportunity to continue his form upturn.
5.30 Kempton: Palmarian
Palmarian is well bred, so I am sure it was with a degree of reluctance that it was decided he should be gelded after his first three runs.
His latest effort came at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago suggests he has benefited as he finished with a flourish to be fourth despite not getting the best of runs.
If he progresses for that first run in five months, he could well show himself to be well in. He will stay further but I believe he can win over this trip before scaling greater heights.
7.00 Kempton: Slipper Time
Slipper Time looks the lightly raced improver in this field and gets the vote.
Henry Candy’s cheaply bought gelding already looks a bargain at £3,000 and landed a modest late summer maiden at Salisbury on his third start.
He progressed again on his latest start with a good third on his handicap debut at Newbury, where he finished third beaten less than a length.
Slipper Time has pretty much improved with each and is much more lightly raced than most of his rivals, so there is plenty of room for further improvement.
