Wednesday tips: Dave Nevison shares his best bets for Perth

Jack Power is one of the latest young jockeys to be coming down the Russell/Scudamore pipeline and his 5lb claim is now a valuable one and may be the deciding factor in this very tight handicap. 

His mount here, Rattling Road, has been improving steadily and has already won two novice handicap chases this season, jumping notably well for one so inexperienced. 

He ran his best race last time when just failing to complete the hat-trick of wins by a short head at Newcastle. He is a couple of pounds higher again (before the 5lb claim) but hopefully will be fresh and well after a short break and can get back on the winning trail. 

Sunday Soldier disappointed on heavy ground when I backed her on her latest start, but I have no doubt she can bounce back and go close if in the mood here. 

Her record after short breaks is exemplary and I am hopeful that after seven weeks off she will be in better form. 

She was second in a Listed handicap on her previous start and would certainly go close if back in that form. 

Her yard could hardly be in better form and with a tongue tie applied for the first time and a 2lb drop in the weights are factors also in her favour. and I expect a good run at a price. 

Olly Murphy has sent a massive raiding party up to the Perth Festival and this improving six-year-old looks to have been found a good opportunity in this low-grade staying handicap. 

HenrysbrotherJack is bred to be a stayer and only began to show any sort of form when he was stepped up in trip after getting handicapped in races over the minimum trip. 

He has gone off favourite and been upped in trip on each of his latest runs and got his head in front comfortably when racing over this trip for the first time at Bangor last time. 

He quickened nicely at the end of that race and didn’t look as though a 6lb higher mark would have stopped him winning. With an experienced amateur on board, he can go in again.
