Regular racingtv.com tipster Dave Nevison is enjoying a well-earned break, and has certainly picked a good time to go away, with plenty of meetings abandoned over the past few days, and the loss of further fixtures highly likely this week.
Tuesday's fixture at Hereford has already been called off, as has Leicester, so it's just
to get stuck into. Looking ahead to later in the week, temperatures are set to plummet, so the fixtures over Jumps may be in doubt until Friday when temperatures are set to rise slightly.
Although Wolverhampton is the sole meeting on Tuesday, there are still nine winners to be found, and
, a son of Kingman who is a 800,000gns breeze-up purchase trained by Charlie Appleby, and owned by Godolphin, makes his debut in the 5.30. However, the highlight has to be
, the Racing TV x RaceShare syndicate horse, returning to action in the 7.00!
The six-year-old has been absent since running at Thirsk in September, but is now ready to race again, although Stuart Williams believes he may be slightly 'rusty' on his return against race-fit rivals. Below, Williams shares an update on Lir Speciale:
Racing TV members, if you haven't already, you can still join the Racing TV x RaceShare syndicate and own a share in Lir Speciale for FREE.
.
Although I'll be cheering on Lir Speciale, I've found an each-way bet against him in the 6f contest, as well as one in the 7.30. Best of luck with your bets, and fingers crossed the cold snap doesn't linger for too long!
7.00 Wolverhampton: Just A Spark
Best odds: 9-1 (each-way).
There are plenty you can make a case for in this race, with most of the contenders well handicapped on their best form. However, most of them are on much lower ratings now because they are regressive, and one who may still have more to offer is
.
Rod Millman's mare recorded a hat-trick on the all-weather at the start of last year, which included a victory in this race, and arguably improved again when second in a valuable handicap (off a rating of 84) at Newcastle in May.
She is now just a pound above her last winning mark having failed to sparkle in two starts after that before she was given a break, and shaped as though the outing was needed (she was also weak in the market beforehand) at Kempton on her return in December.
With the cobwebs blown away, she should be primed to run a big race now, and the fact she won this last year suggests this may have been her early-season target.
Millman has had two winners and two horses placed from his past seven runners and
takes off a handy 5lb, which are further positives, and Just A Spark's record at Wolverhampton reads 4111.
If this course specialist can get a good position from stall seven, she should be capable of finishing in the frame, at least, on her return to class 4 company.
7.30 Wolverhampton: Green Team
Best odds: --
Green Team may not have won a race since September 2021, but the six-year-old has been highly tried since that victory, and has been set some impossible tasks, so his losing streak may not be as bad as it seems.
After disappointing in stronger handicaps at the start of last year, he began to perform better in lower-grade races on turf, and has shown a similar level of form since switching back to the all-weather.
The selection has finished second in similar contests to this on his past two outings over course and distance, and would have won in couple more strides last time out when given a patient ride, which was a change of tactics (Green Team is usually ridden prominently).
Ryan Kavanagh takes off 7lb and I'm hoping he will adopt the same tactics again here as his mount should go close once again if he repeats his latest performance.
