Betting expert Dave Nevison shares his best bets for the meetings at Fakenham, Ffos Las and Wolverhampton.
3.30 Ffos Las: Baseline
There is plenty of pace likely in this two-mile handicap, which will hopefully enable Michael Nolan to get this this free-running type settled.
put up a promising first run over fences last time out and looks as though he may have more upside than some of his rivals in this ordinary affair.
The Hobbs/Johnson White combination had a great time last season and remain in form. Baseline could be a decent prospect for them in these early weeks of the summer Jumps season.
4.50 Fakenham: Planned Paradise
Planned Paradise disappointed the last time he ran at Fakenham, on a day others from the yard also underperformed, but he has run well here in the past, so I am happy to take him to be the pick of the two Christian Williams-trained runners lining up.
The nine-year-old won at Windsor in January and has continued in decent form since, although if he jumped a bit better than he sometimes does then he might have progressed even further.
The excellent Charlie Maggs takes off 5lb here, and I expect a strong run. His yard generally does well here.
9.00 Wolverhampton: Ziggy’s Queen
Ziggy’s Queen is dropped down to the lowest grade handicap she has ever contested and looks poised to hit winning form after two decent runs this spring.
She ran third in a competitive big field handicap at Haydock last time but has form at Wolverhampton recently, so I don’t believe the return to the all-weather will inconvenience her. Warren Fentiman has ridden for nine different trainers on his past 10 mounts, including for Richard Fahey, and that is a tip itself regarding the young jockey’s appeal.
Hopefully, he can get this filly in a decent position, so she will not be left to come from too far back this time.
