4.45 Musselburgh: Albegone
This could be the best opportunity Albegone has had this season to register his tenth career win. Despite being winless in 14 starts so far this term, he has run well on several occasions, placing five times, including a close second over this course and distance in June.
This frustrating run has seen him drop to a mark of 56. This is 12lb below the mark he started the year on (where he again finished second) and 16lb below his last winning mark.
He has been dropped a generous 2lb for his two and a quarter length defeat when last seen a month ago and the times of his recent races have also caught the eye.
This dual course and distance winner is drawn between the two market leaders, who also look the likely pace angles. He should get a nice lead into the race under talented apprentice Jake Dickson, who takes off a valuable 5lb, and looks overpriced at 5-1.
5.10 Stratford: Letmeseethecolts
Ulysses mare Letmeseethecolts has run well on her first two starts over hurdles for Brian Ellison and can get off the mark in this sphere at the third attempt.
A winner over a mile and a half on the Flat, she has outrun her odds on both occasions over obstacles. Firstly when finishing second at Cartmel in June despite some jumping errors, and then in a stronger race last month at Uttoxeter, where she jumped more professionally and finished closer to the winner.
She was particularly eye-catching at the finish last time, doing her best work in the final furlong over two miles, so this extended 2m2f trip should see her to better effect.
6.45 Stratford: Mi Sueno
The Dan Skelton-trained Getmyfriend is unexposed and could be a warm order for this, but he does not look to have loads in hand off his opening mark of 101 and it may be worth taking him on with the well-handicapped Mi Sueno, in receipt of 22lb.
Nick Scholfield has made a great start to his training career and appears to have worked his magic with this seven-year-old, who seemingly lost his way last year and was not in much better form this spring either.
However, on his stable debut at Newton Abbot last month, Mi Sueno took advantage of a career-low mark to win readily for the first time in over two years.
Raised 5lb for that win, he took another step forward back at the same course on Saturday when finishing second behind a runaway winner who set a new track record from the front.
He gets a considerable amount of weight from his main rivals here, many of whom have plenty to prove, and given he has won off 13lb higher previously, he is impossible to ignore at odds of 10-3.
