2.08 Ayr: Empirestateofmind
We saw quite a few of these, sometimes twice, at the recent big meeting here at Ayr and the Quinns' gelding came back to winning form in a stronger handicap over this trip.
Empirestateofmind was turned out quickly at Hamilton the same weekend and, though a beaten favourite, he once again ran really well having been just picked off close home over a longer trip on a stiffer track.
The veteran is back above 70 here, but started this year off 84 and I believe that, under his ideal conditions, he is well capable of winning another race.

3.38 Ayr: One Night Thunder
Gemma Tutty’s gelding was in top form this time last year and, though it may have taken a little longer for One Night Thunder to hit form this term, the signs were much better last time out when he finished third, staying on nicely at Carlisle.
The six-year-old is a further 1lb lower in the weights here and without many pacesetters, should be able to get into a prominent position even from stall 8. He will definitely act well on the very soft ground.
Running without headgear seemed to spark a revival last time and, with the yard back among the winners last week, I expect a good run.
4.40 Ayr: Big Harry
Big Harry bolted up from very useful opposition on heavy ground on his third and final start of last season, and looked a very useful handicap prospect. He has clearly had issues as he has only been seen once this season when everything went wrong for him as a well-backed 13-8 favourite at Kempton in June.
It seems implausible that William Stone would make the journey to the west of Scotland for Big Harry’s next start four months later if he wasn’t fit and well enough to go well.
Obviously the market will be a guide to expectations, but Big Harry still has the potential.
