2.30 Catterick: Wind Your Neck In
Sam England has made a smart move in booking Isabelle Ryder, who is making a very strong impression this season for this contest exclusively for lady riders.
Ryder’s 5lbs claim will be valuable in this event though Wind Your Neck In would likely be well enough handicapped to win this anyway.
The seven-year-old has dropped a stone in the weights in the last few months and signalled he was finally ready to break his maiden with an excellent second at Carlisle last time. He may well be better over a sharper track such as Catterick and this looks an ideal opportunity.
3.00 Catterick: Dixie Cowboy
This race commemorates one of the most prolific 2m chasers to race around the northern circuit from back in the day.
Easby Abbey would have lapped Tuesday’s contenders, who are modest to say the least, but one that will likely try to adopt the great horse’s front running tactics is Dixie Cowboy and he could take some pegging back.
Sam England’s chaser needs to bounce back from a disappointing run last time but given he has been consistent up until then I am prepared to put that down as a one off.
The ten-year-old had twice finished second off this mark before Christmas and looks capable of gaining a win off this rating.
3.30 Catterick: Into The Park
Into The Park has never raced in this low a grade of handicap over hurdles and has often performed with credit in much higher and open grade races. So, this looks a good opportunity to land an overdue win.
The seven-year-old returned to hurdles after a disappointing run over fences and although he didn’t show his best form, hopefully he can build on that run now he is back in this less exacting sphere. The Hobbs/White training partnership are going along nicely.
