Several horses I’ve supported recently turn up in this race. I have no doubt that the likes of Our Little Pony, Melody King (unlucky last time) and Refuge will win more races this season but Arnold did me a big favour at double-figure odds in this race last year and looks to have a good chance of winning this contest for the third time.
Arnold arrives here on the same mark as last season and signalled his turn was near with a very good second at Newcastle on his latest start.
The key to this horse is being able to get a clear run through, as he is invariably dropped out. To do this he needs a strong pace and that is pretty much guaranteed on Thursday. He has a good draw in stall 4 and Shane Gray rides again, so I am happy to have a go.
Enjoy a day at the races on us! Find out more about Racing TV Club Days.
3.40 Salisbury: Atlantic Heart
Is still a maiden but is running well enough to think that may well change and this 0-60 is not a strong race
She has been shaping as though a step up to a mile may well bring about a little further improvement and hopefully this stiff track will suit also.
Atlantic Heart is definitely bred for longer trips, being a half-sister to a middle-distance winner, and has been staying on well twice at Chepstow. Hopefully, this will be the key to her losing the maiden tag.
