Betting expert Dave Nevison fancies the chances of two horses on the second day of York's Dante meeting, plus one at Perth, all at big prices - catch both meetings live on Racing TV Where should you or someone you know go if you need support? To find out more . 2.10 York: Lethal Nymph
Lethal Nymph ran disappointingly in this handicap last season, but ten days after that run, he turned up again at York in another 0-105 handicap and ran an excellent second, so there is no doubt he is capable of a very good run on the Knavesmire.
He has a disappointing run to bounce back from again here after he was well backed in but ran terribly at Thirsk last time out. Previous to that he had looked as though another win was due and he might have plenty going for him in this.
His draw in stall 8 looks perfect and he has been dropped a pound for the last run. Added to that, he has Warren Fentiman taking off a really valuable 5lb and the promising claimer can help him into the frame in a race some bookies pay down to sixth place.
2.42 York: Old Cock
Old Cock is drawn perfectly in stall 5 for a horse who likes to be in the front rank in competitive handicaps like this and he can follow up last year's win for the Bethell/Rodriguez combo with a similar type.
This four-year-old was fancied to go well in the Lincoln on his reappearance but didn’t get the run of things at all that day and faded out of contention. His stable has been going very well and he has been given plenty of time to come forward from that run and has already been backed for this race earlier in the week.
A pound off his back since the last run will obviously be of some help, but I feel Old Cock might well progress significantly this season and this could be a stepping stone to better things.
3.21 Perth: Belle Of Annandale
She returned after a wind operation last time and, under champion jockey Sean Bowen, was probably expected to do better.
She was well beaten but was definitely staying on in the closing stages and can definitely be expected to do better over this half a mile further.
Belle Of Annandale was second on the only time she has tried this trip and, off this 3lb lower mark, she is now 22lb lower than when initially assessed and is capable of winning a race off this mark.
