5.10 Chelmsford: Don Pacifico

Don Pacifico has been absent for a while since he disappointed in a hot race at Ascot last time, suffering the unkindest cut in the interim.
He has never ran a bad race on the all-weather and the only time he has been out of the money was at Newcastle’s big Easter meeting where he got no sort of run through.
The Crisford-trained gelding might be the one to side with in decent all-weather handicaps this autumn as he is still lightly-raced and could definitely have upside in him.
Providing there is a decent pace, I expect him to go close here. A positive market move after his short absence would be encouraging.

5.45 Chelmsford: Evening Saigon

Evening Saigon won on his only start as a two-year-old in Ireland and has placed in both of his starts in Britain.
It is interesting that three horses who have finished in front of him include a subsequent Listed winner and two horses rated 95 and 104 respectively. Obviously we haven’t seen him for more than 12 months but there is no doubt he could be very well handicapped indeed.
His ability to act on the all-weather has to be taken on trust, but his dam won twice at Kempton, so the signs are good, and I feel it is very possible this three-year-old could be well ahead of some largely exposed types.

7.15 Chelmsford: Morte Point

Morte Point looks to still be progressing and ran very well to be beaten less than a length when runner-up in a big field Doncaster handicap last time out.
He has only been raised 1lb for that effort which looks lenient given that  two who finished behind him won on their next start.
He is drawn well for a prominent racer on this his all-weather debut and 7f is obviously his perfect trip. Lewis Edmunds, who won on him two starts ago, is back on board for this, and the combination are entitled to be favourite.
