4.15 Kelso: Guet Apens
This ex-Andre Fabre gelding was a consistent performer just shy of Listed class in France who seems to have adjusted very well to hurdles for his new yard.
Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero are very adept at getting their runners well handicapped, and seem to have done another good job with Guet Apens.
He starts his handicap career off a plater’s mark of just 103, and looks to have plenty of improvement in him based on his win last time at Carlisle where he quickly put his rivals to bed after the last.
He stayed on really well up the steepest of hills and will be extremely well suited by this step up in distance here (stamina backed up by his flat form). Guet Apens looks a very interesting prospect for this Spring.
5.48 Southwell: Mr Lightside
Mr Lightside doesn’t hold his form for too long and has had gaps in his form over the past two seasons, but he was plying his trade in Listed company not that long ago and has plummeted in the weights.
He showed his best form for a while last time out over five furlongs at Wolverhampton, which was encouraging, especially as he didn’t get the best of runs through, by any means.
Mick Appleby does not often go too long before finding the key to getting a win out of a sprinter, and with Rossa Ryan booked once more, he might well come good in this 0-80 contest.
6.48 Southwell: Little Mi Mi
Little Mi Mi is improving rapidly from a very low starting point and might well be able to confirm last time out’s win over Fortunate Star, despite being 5lb worse off for beating him just 1 ½ lengths.
Iain Jardine’s mare will be well suited by the certain strong pace in this race, and he gets on well with his 5lbs claiming rider. Five furlongs is his best trip, too.
